This is a ONCE IN A LIFETIME OPPORTUNITY to see and find lots of large 3-3.7 myr old (mostly extinct, shallow, subtropical) fossils. They fall out of the loose shell sand that has been excavated from 35 m below the ground and sits in a huge sand heap.
PERMISSION for a small group to visit and collect has been kindly granted by Watercare.
The fauna is similar to that excavated from Otahuhu Brewery well in 1945.
