How volcanism influenced settlement in the northern Franklin district

Meet for carpooling (essential) at 9.30am at Drury Domain carpark, 220 Great South Road (next to Jolly Farmer wholesale).

The itinerary includes: Fitzgerald, Ballards, Drury Hills, Belamys, Peach Hill, Maxted Cones, Puke East Crater (of course!), Cape Hill (also, of course), Helvetia, Patumahoe, Karaka.

If we have time will also check out Redhill, Mt Calm and Ponga cone.

40 km driving, 3-4 hrs or more (bring lunch, a drink and stamina).

Rating: Easy, mostly driving, standing and short walks.

If weather is wet ring Bruce (09 523 1667) at 8am for possible postponement (better to ring of in doubt than turn up and find it postponed).
