Hocken Collections Foyer Display

This display, which opens during the GSNZ Annual Conference, showcases scholarship undertaken by geologists in the Otago region. It illustrates how these achievements shaped the development of geology as a discipline and profession in New Zealand. Exhibits include hand-coloured geological cross-sections bearing James Hector’s signature, nineteenth-century student notebooks, historical departmental photographs and original Otago School of Mines architectural drawings.
