GSNZ SIG webinar - PALEOTalk
Applications of 3D Imaging in Paleontology: Research and Beyond
with Paleontology SIG Convenor Daniel Thomas (Massey University)
Making 3D digital replicas of bones, shells, footprints and other fossils is becoming increasingly easier. Digital replicas and 3D prints are now widely used in paleontology. 3D models are incorporated into fossil identification keys, are valuable for science communication and student training, and are excellent for enabling long-distance research collaborations. This talk will describe recent applications of 3D imaging in zoology and paleontology in Aotearoa that I have been involved in, with a view towards showcasing the value of generating 3D digital replicas.
This is our first PALEOTalk, the GSNZ Paleontology Special Interest Group talk series.
The aim of the talk series is to excite and inspire members of the paleontology community, from students to established collectors and researchers, as well as the wider public, by showcasing paleontology activities in Aotearoa.
This talk will be hosted online on Zoom and will be recorded.
An access link will be emailed to Paleontology SIG members.
